One Sunderland star is eyeing another giant slaying having turned up for the big games this season.

One Sunderland star has been speaking about the prospect of facing Arsenal as he and his men look to claim another scalp. The Black Cats have been superb in their first season back in the Premier League, firmly in the European race, largely relying on their home form by remaining unbeaten at the Stadium of Light so far this season.

Away form has been nowhere near as good for Sunderland, but just goal difference outside the final European spot, they have a formula that is working with their superb home form.

Sunderland’s recruitment has been excellent, and 20-year-old Chemsdine Talbi has been one of the impressive summer recruits, with the young winger scoring three goals and two assists. Two of those goals have come against Chelsea and Liverpool respetively, so the winger clearly has an eye for a goal in a big game.

And Talbi may fancy his chances of striking gold again on Saturday when he takes on Sunderland. The winger spoke ahead of this game, and he told the Sunderland Echo: “Yeah, we know Arsenal is a big club, Liverpool is a big club, but we showed this season that we can face every team, and in the Premier League, everything can happen. So we will take this game 100% and go full to get the three points there.

“When you're a kid you look at these teams, you dream about playing them. It’s been hard work, long years of hard working, but now I'm here. I'm really pleased with that. We know big games are coming. We will recover good because today was a heavy game. But we have a great squad and we can face everything.”

Asked about his journey to the Premier League, the winger added; “Yeah, I watched the Prem when I was growing up. The Premier League is the best league in the world. So when I was young, I was looking. I never thought I would play here, but now I'm here, and I'm really pleased.”

Sunderland add to squad on deadline day

Sunderland managed to make another new signing on deadline day, strengthening their squad for the second half of the season. Winger Nilson Angulo came in to provide competiton for Talbi, and speaking about that arrival, Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris said: “As well as his creative capabilities, we have spoken about his defensive abilities. He has the physical attributes to defend and help the side, the balance is combined and for him, it is the case.

“He has played wing-back a few times as well and we know he can match the energy of the Premier League. When you have to defend, you use a lot of energy but we know he has the profile. He is fit and ready, we will see how this weekend looks.”
