Manchester United have been dealt an injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Tottenham.

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has issued an injury update following a recent ‘blow’ ahead of his side’s clash with Tottenham on Saturday. Spurs head to Old Trafford hoping to follow up a positive last week that saw them pick up a big result in the Champions League and a two-goal comeback draw against Manchester City.

But Frank’s job is to find solutions, and find solutions he must if he wants to keep his job long term. As for United, they have picked up quickly after replacing Ruben Amorim with interm boss Micharl Carrick. Amorim was guding the Red Devils to a decent season, and they were already in the top four race, but three wins from three have United in fourth and a point ahead of Chelsea at this stage.

It’s not all rainbows and sunshines at Old Trafford, though, and Carrick has challenges of his own, with key defender Patrick Dorgu sidelined for a long period.

“Not exactly. We’re working through it,” Carrick said when asked if there is a clear picture of how long the defender will be out for. “It’ll definitely be a number of weeks. It will be a considerable period of time. He’s not going to be back in the next two or three weeks. To be more exact is a little bit difficult, at this moment.

"It could possibly be [10 weeks], we’re working through it. Certainly, we’re looking forward to getting him back as quickly as we can and getting on the pitch long before the end of the season.”

Carrick added: “It’s a blow. It’s always a blow when you lose players and they can’t be involved, and we can’t choose them. Especially when you’ve had an impact like Patrick did over the last few weeks, just finding that next level.

"Unfortunately, football throws things up, there are ups and downs. For this short period of time, he’s disappointed, he wants to be fit. But he’s going to have a career for the next 10 or 15 years, and hopefully, this is just a little moment for him. Coming off the back of the huge positive he’s just had, I think, when he comes back, he’ll be even stronger again.”
