Axel Disasi's West Ham United squad number confirmed

West Ham United did indeed make a signing on Deadline Day in the form of Axel Disasi.

The French defender – who hasn’t played a competitive game at senior level in almost nine months – has joined West Ham United on loan from Chelsea for the rest of the season.

It was perhaps not the end to the January transfer window that many supporters would have hoped for.

Disasi will be in line to make his Hammers debut against Burnley on Saturday, although it remains to be seen if he will be thrown in to action so quickly given his lack of game time in recent months.

Nuno Espirito Santo is excited to work with Disasi, who is looking forward to playing first team football once again after being sat on the sidelines for so long at Chelsea.

The likes of Alex Song and Kevin Nolan have previously worn it in years gone by, too.

World Cup winners Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Sir Geoff Hurst have also had the number four emblazoned across their backs at some point while playing for the club.
