Antoine Semenyo picks Man Utd player in his Team of the Season so far, it's not Bruno Fernandes

Manchester City’s new signing, Antoine Semenyo, selected one Manchester United player in his best Premier League XI for this season.

The first half of the season was a topsy-turvy affair for Manchester United.

Poor results led to Ruben Amorim’s dismissal at the beginning of January, but there has been a significant improvement since Michael Carrick returned to the club as head coach until the end of the season.

A run of three wins in as many games under Carrick has strengthened United’s hopes of securing Champions League qualification.

If you were Man United’s director of football with £200m to spend in the summer, what would be your dream window?

On top of that, the team is playing much better, with players positioned in preferred positions and a system that helps get the best out of them.

Matheus Cunha has hit the ground running under Carrick, while the same could’ve been said for Patrick Dorgu before the Dane sustained a hamstring injury that will keep him out of action for most of the games United have left to play.

Man City’s Antoine Semenyo has revealed his selections to Sky Sports at a recent Adidas event, with room for just one United player.

Many would assume the player in question is Bruno Fernandes, but there was no room for the Portuguese midfielder in Semenyo’s team of the season.

Instead, Semenyo opted for Dorgu at left back, even though his best performances for United have come further up the pitch as a winger against Newcastle, Man City, and Arsenal.

Antoine Semenyo’s Premier League Team of the Season so far:

Robin Roefs (Sunderland)

Alex Jimenez (Bournemouth)

William Saliba (Arsenal)

Marc Guehi (Man City)

Patrick Dorgu (Manchester United)

Moises Caicedo (Chelsea)

Declan Rice (Arsenal)

Antoine Semenyo (Man City)

Rayan Cherki (Man City)

Jeremy Doku (Man City)

Erling Haaland (Man City)

Carrick has backed Dorgu to come back stronger from his injury, but every United fan will be eager to see him return to the team as soon as possible.

It remains to be seen if Dorgu’s future will be at left back or on the wing, having been tasked to play as a wing-back under Amorim.

Patrick Dorgu stats this season

Dorgu has made 24 appearances for United this season, with 22 of them coming in the Premier League.

The Dane also started 14 league matches but has missed the last two due to injury.

In terms of goal contributions, Dorgu has an impressive return of six, including three goals and as many assists.

The sky is the limit for Dorgu once he returns.
