Nottingham Forest could sack Sean Dyche after Leeds United thrashing, says TalkSport journalist

Sean Dyche

Leeds United dropped a near flawless performance on Friday night as they recorded an important result at Elland Road. Just over a week before, the Whites had suffered huge defeat at the hand of league leaders Arsenal.

Everyone did not know how the team would react, after a brutal blip in their run of form. Leeds just could not handle the Gunners on the day, and fans were surprised they did not put up a fight. But Friday night put the fanbase’s fears to bed as they showed up and trashed Sean Dyche’s side. Nottingham Forest were doing well before the game, picking up crucial points in their own fight for safety – they were unbeaten in four league games, even holding Arsenal to a draw.

The Whites raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half against Forest, with goals from Jayden Bogle and Noah Okafor. In the second half, Dominic Calvert-Lewin added the third for the home team. Forest pulled on back before full time, but it was too little too late.

Sean Dyche could be sacked after Leeds United result

The aftermath of the result has not been great; Sean Dyche was furious with his team and made his thoughts clear after full time. Now, talkSport and Sky Sports journalist Kweku Afari has suggested that the Forest boss could walk after this result:

“I don’t think it should happen (Dyche being sacked), but can I see it? Yeah, I can.

“Marinakis is an unconventional owner of a football club. There’s already been two men in the dugout, he probably shouldn’t have got rid of Nuno in the first place, brought in Ange, that was a disaster, we thought Sean Dyche would do maybe a little bit better than what he’s doing right now, Forest are still out of the relegation zone but with the upturn in form from West Ham, they are looking over their shoulder and so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Marinakis make a change.”

Would be a huge advantage for the Whites

Nottingham Forest losing their coach at this point of the season would be a huge boost in the race for survival. Anytime teams panic and make decisions like this, it often backfires. With a new coach, the team will have to learn a new style and players will be coming in and out of the lineup. And for a team battling relegation, consistency is ideal – Leeds are only doing well this far in the season because the ownership chose not to sack Daniel Farke even when he had the team in poor form. The club will hope this pays off at the end of the season.
