'I think it suits me' - Defender enjoying attacking freedom enabled by Leeds United's system

Jayden Bogle has been among the biggest beneficiaries of Leeds United’s change of system.

The switch to a flexible 3-5-2 system sparked an upturn in the club’s fortunes, allowing Daniel Farke’s side more control of games.

Bogle has moved into something of a dual role, operating as a wing-back when Leeds are in the ascendency and tucking in as a full-back when they are facing pressure.

As an attack-minded player, the 25-year-old is certainly enjoying the freedom enabled by the way Farke is setting Leeds up.

Jayden Bogle enjoying attacking freedom

After the club’s 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest, he told The Yorkshire Post: "I'm really enjoying it. The system sort of changes as the games goes on, with and without the ball. But I'm enjoying it.

“It is a bit of a different role, a bit higher up, but then again we have to sit in a 5-4-1, back into defensive duties, which is obviously important as well.

“I think it's become quite natural. Ultimately, I'm a defender first. The rest is sort of a plus. But with the way we play and the freedom we get to go and get forward and get in the box and be creative, I think it suits me really well."

Opener against Nottingham Forest

Bogle’s swashbuckling nature was exemplified by his goal against Forest, which stemmed from a run he commenced from incredibly deep.

He went undetected as he darted in behind the Forest defence, aided by Dominic Calvert-Lewin pulling a red shirt out with his movement.

Bogle was picked out by Ilia Gruev, who clipped a stunning pass over the top for the former Sheffield United man to latch on to.

Bogle said: “It's a fantastic ball from Ilia, he's got that that quality to pick players out. I know if I made the run, he would be able to find me, and then it's about staying calm in front of goal.

“It did feel like it was in slow motion. I even had a look around after it went in [to see if I was offside], just a double check. You can never be too sure. I was just delighted."
