Agent of "excellent" forward reveals "phone calls" after bid made by Leeds

The agent of a sought after player has now shed light on "phone calls" involving Leeds United and a large bid for his client, hinting the Elland Road outfit need to sell before they can buy.

Farke "proud" of Nottingham Forest thrashing

If Leeds were looking to make a statement, they did exactly that against Nottingham Forest on Friday evening. The Whites brushed their relegation rivals aside to go nine points clear of the dropzone before West Ham United square off against Burnley.

Goals from Noah Okafor, Jaden Bogle and, of course, Dominic Calvert-Lewin ensured that Lorenzo Lucca's late effort meant nothing more than a consolation for a well-beaten Nottingham Forest side.

Proud of his side after yet another Elland Road victory, Daniel Farke told reporters: "I’m very proud because this was complicated game for us. First and foremost, because we had lost the last game (4-0 at home against Arsenal).

"I know it was Arsenal, but a loss always does something with the confidence and belief. It’s always difficult to respond after a loss, and this made it a difficult game.

This Leeds United star who was better than Dominic Calvert-Lewin is looking like one of the best players in the Premier League.

"Second, it was, of course, a game where there was a bit more on the line, not just the three points. Sometimes during the season there’s a game that feels just a bit more important than other games.

"And then to deliver in this way, with such a spirited performance, with our intensity to be so dominant and to play such a good football game.

"I think it will do a lot with our confidence, our belief, our spirit within the group. This was second to none today, and for that, it’s a massive performance and a massive win."

Premier League survival would undoubtedly do wonders for Leeds' transfer ambitions and that may have been the reason behind their recent bid to sign an attacking star.

Strand Larsen's agent reveals "phone calls" after Leeds bid

Speaking to Norwegian publication VG, Jorgen Strand Larsen's agent revealed that he was getting "phone calls" from a number of clubs about his client in the January transfer window, before Crystal Palace sealed a club-record move.

Whilst he didn't confirm whether Leeds were among those clubs, the report does state that the Whites submitted a bid to sign the forward worth around €15m (£13m) less than Palace's eventual €55m (£48m) deal. He suggests that Leeds needed to sell before they could up their bid.

"Things like this are worked on all year round. 365 days.

"When Wolves are struggling and Jørgen had a brilliant season last year, there are of course many who are interested in hearing what the status is. Strikers who are “Premier League proof” do not grow on trees.

"Jorgen was clear that he wanted to be in England. At that time, everything else was uninteresting, I have had phone calls with several clubs. Some show interest, others are more interested. Some are dependent on selling before they buy. That is the market."

Pedersen revealed that one interested club had to sell before they could consider buying Strand Larsen and last summer's PSR report could suggest that could have been Leeds. If that is the case, then they missed out on a striker who Alan Shearer called "excellent".

But, as much they've endured a successful campaign, the Whites are unlikely to be in a position to spend almost £50m on one player in the middle of the season.
