It has been a rough week for Dwight McNeil at Everton.
The Everton No.7 thought he would be preparing for a trip to Brighton with Crystal Palace on Sunday after undergoing a medical with the south Londoners on transfer deadline day last Monday.
However β as was well documented β Crystal Palace backed out of the deal at the last minute, leaving the former Burnley man devastated according to his partner on Instagram.
Now, a story from The Athletic reveals how Everton have been helping Dwight McNeil at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after an emotional week.

Everton liaising with Dwight McNeil as James Tarkowski offers help too
It is said that Everton have instructed their player support team β led by Charlotte Renshaw and consisting of four members in total β to help McNeil move on.
The Athletic add that James Tarkowski has also been involved since his close friend suffered the setback, offering a helping hand along with other unnamed senior players.
McNeil has played 246 games alongside the England international for Burnley and Everton over the years β well over 100 more than the next closest teammate Ashley Westwood β so the pair understandably have a strong connection.

Hopefully, Everton can help the 26-year-old rediscover his focus quickly, as he still has plenty to offer David Moyes in the final 14 games of the season.
How Everton feel about fan reaction towards Dwight McNeil
There was a lot of delight amongst the Everton fanbase on social media when they discovered McNeil could be leaving for a Β£20m fee, as he has not exactly been a key player so far this season with zero goals and one assist in 18 appearances.
As a result, a lot of supporters had to backtrack on their comments once Crystal Palace pulled out.
On the assumption McNeil saw those initial messages, it surely wonβt have helped to improve his mood.

However, The Athletic add that Everton are pleased by how the fanbase have rallied around the man born in Rochdale after a tough moment in his life.
Hopefully, this situation can create a bit of unity, and spur the Toffees on to have a memorable second half of the season.
