Jorgen Strand Larsen's agent has hinted that Leeds United needed to sell a player before they could attempt to buy the striker in the January transfer window. The Whites were keen on Strand Larsen and tabled a £40million bid to Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.

However, Crystal Palace ultimately won the race on deadline day, having offered £8m more. It means that Leeds ended the window with one signing - Facundo Buonanotte on loan.

The Whites' quiet transfer window does not appear to have had an immediate impact with Daniel Farke's side recording an impressive 3-1 win at home to Nottingham Forest on Friday night. Farke's men are now nine points clear of the relegation zone going into this weekend's Premier League fixtures.

But there will be some concern if Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Noah Okafor picks up an injury during the final four months of the campaign. And Strand Laren's agent, Tore Pedersen, has offered insight in an Interview with Norwegian site VG on why Leeds may have missed out on the 26-year-old.

He said: "Things like this are worked on all year round. 365 days. When Wolves are struggling and Jørgen had a brilliant season last year, there are of course many who are interested in hearing what the status is. Strikers who are “Premier League proof” do not grow on trees.

“Jørgen was clear that he wanted to be in England. At that time, everything else was uninteresting, I have had phone calls with several clubs. Some show interest, others are more interested. Some are dependent on selling before they buy. That is the market.”

Farke has insisted that he is not unhappy with the club's quiet window - sharing his view that it's not a bad thing for his side.

The 49-year-old said: "I have to say normally it's a good sign when you don't do much in January. If you look across Europe to the clubs in a good position you see they rarely do much in January.

"When you have to do a lot normally you have to repair some mistakes from the summer or to deal with a situation with many injuries. It's a good sign if you just change a few details. For us we have just adjusted some details. I

"n total we've allowed Jack Harrison to go out on loan because it was his wish, he didn't have that much gametime and his behaviour was professional. We have proactively sent Harry Gray out on loan and so far, so good, touch wood the perfect start, exactly what we were wishing for. Lots of game time and good performances.

"And we've added another loan for us in Facundo Buonanotte. Little adjustments and we move on. We have achieved with this group of players plus Jack, minus Facundo, 26 points, progressed in the FA Cup and I'm quite confident that with this group we are capable to finish the job in the Premier League.

"It will still be hard work and I hope to progress further on in the FA Cup. I have this group and I concentrate to give my group all the backing, all my work and trust and I'm confident we can achieve our goals."
