“Really special” – Sunderland star in awe of Arsenal man, made him question himself

Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki has revealed his admiration for Arsenal’s Declan Rice, who he clearly holds in high regard.

Voetbal Primeur cover comments from the Sunderland midfielder today. He’s been speaking to Play Sports ahead of their clash with Arsenal this weekend.

The 21-year-old has been impressing at the Stadium of Light since a €17m move from Union SG in the summer. He’s quickly stepped up to the pace of the Premier League, establishing himself as a key player in Sunderland’s system.

That’s reportedly earned him plenty of admirers too. A report back in December named Manchester United as suitors. Meanwhile, analysts back in Belgium have predicted a big move in the near future.

In the meantime, he continues to impress and develop at the Stadium of Light. That development will be put to the test this weekend when they take on Arsenal at the Emirates.

The Gunners are leading the Premier League and have, arguably, the best midfield in the country at this moment in time. A key component of that, is Declan Rice. Some would have him as the best in England at this moment in time, perhaps even in Europe. Sadiki is certainly a fan and isn’t afraid to admit as much.

“Rice is really special to play one-on-one against,” he said.

“At first, I wondered: do I run as much as he does? He runs a lot, but he also runs fast. He always chooses the right pass, he does everything at the right tempo, you see.

“Only good players play in the Premier League, really impressive.”
