Burnley Women have named ex-Claret Ross Wallace as their interim manager.

Wallace will hold the caretaker role until the end of the season, starting with tomorrow’s clash against Loughborough Lightning.
The Scotsman, who represented Burnley between 2010 and 2015, later returned to the club in a coaching role in the academy, before later working at Fleetwood Town.
Roberts enjoyed incredible success with the Clarets after taking on the role in interim and caretaker capacities.
She leaves the team top of the Women’s National League table – albeit having played a game extra than title rivals Wolves – and having not lost a league game all season.
During her time in charge, Roberts was also named Manager of the Month and led the Clarets to a League Cup semi-final.

The club said they “regretfully accepted” Roberts’ resignation.
"Everybody at Burnley Football Club would like to thank Lou for her service and wish her every success in the future,” the Clarets added.

Roberts first joined the Clarets as assistant manager in November 2023, but took on the head coach role on an interim basis in March 2025, before taking on the role again five months later.
She took the reins from Matt Beard, who was placed on gardening leave after resigning from his position to pursue other opportunities. He sadly passed away in September 2025.
On Roberts’ departure, Paul Jenkins, Burnley’s director of football development, said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank Lou for her dedication and professionalism throughout her various roles at the Football Club.
“We have enjoyed a positive season to date, and much of that is due to her efforts to improve the team every day. Lou is someone we will always support, and while we are disappointed to see her leave, we fully respect her decision.
“Our commitment to the aim of promotion remains unwavering and preparations continue for this weekend’s trip to Loughborough Lightning.”
