Man Utd made it four wins in a row as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon to continue their flawless start under the former midfielder. Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring after a smart corner kick routine and Fernandes sealed the win when he bundled the ball over the line in the second half.

The victory keeps United fourth in the Premier League table, just three points behind second-place Man City ahead of their trip to face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. It means United have no accumulated more points this season than they did last season and they will fancy their chances of adding to that tally in upcoming away matches against West Ham and Everton.

The big change Carrick has made

Speaking after the 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes praised Michael Carrick and put his transformation down to the 'freedom' he has given players. The Portugal international has excelled since Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim as head coach and has looked even better since he moved back to his preferred attacking midfield position.

"We’ve had moments when we weren't great, and it was still like this. When we win games, everything looks brighter," he told TNT Sports. "This is football, football changes from one game to another."

He added, "I think Michael came in with the right idea of giving the players the freedom to take responsibility on the pitch to do the decisions that were needed. I think he remembers what I told him the last time he was manager. I think Michael could be a great manager and he’s just shown it.

"We hope we can help him even more so everyone can see we are good players. That’s why we are at Man United. I think everyone understands the pressure of playing for this club. Everyone knows the expectations around it. Michael has won everything here, he knows what it means for these fans and how much is needed to win at this football club."
