Burnley 0 – 2 West Ham United | Half time report

A storming first half from Nuno’s [West Ham United](https://www.claretandhugh.info/burnley-vs-west-ham-preview-team-news-predicted-line-ups-nuno-todibo-choice/) saw the Hammers take a two goal lead inside the first thirty minutes. Controversial team selections with Hermansen coming in for the injured Areola, Disasi making his debut and Callum Wilson starting ahead of Taty meant there was an unfamiliar look about the Hammers from kick off.

The solidity apparent at the back with the drafting in of Disasi meant that Hermansen looked far better shielded – one modest moment of indecision passed and West Ham looked composed and took the lead thanks to a brilliant through pass from Fernandes to Summerville who raced into the inside left spot and chipped the onrushing Burnley keeper.

Better still, Summerville flicked a pass out wide to Diouf five minutes later with the defender’s trademark booming cross beautifully met by Castellanos’ header downwards into the net and West Ham were suddenly two ahead inside thirty minutes.

This is the fifth game in succession that the Hammers have scored inside the first fifteen minutes: Hopefully Nuno’s men can do a better job of shutting their opponents out of the game as the  second half develops.

The Clarets huffed and puffed with a couple of efforts before half time and West Ham reverted to type, defending deeper and deeper as the first ended –  but this **should be** West Ham’s game to lose now.
