The 31-year-old Man Utd captain played the ball to the near post of the Tottenham net and an onrushing Amad Diallo escaped his marker to latch onto the corner-kick pass.
Amad proceeded to play a first-time pass towards the edge of the Spurs box and an unmarked Bryan Mbeumo swept the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.
Fernandes made a major impact in the second half of Man Utd’s 2-0 win over Tottenham after he superbly netted for the Red Devils from a Diogo Dalot cross.

Michael Carrick’s verdict on Bruno Fernandes’ performance in Man Utd’s Premier League victory over Tottenham
Bruno Fernandes has experienced a resurgence in form under Michael Carrick after the interim Manchester United head coach has relied on him in the No 10 role.

The United midfielder watched his influence wane in an attacking aspect under Ruben Amorim, who was playing Fernandes in the two-man midfield pivot.

Fernandes has linked up superbly well with Bryan Mbeumo from the No 10 role, but Carrick hailed the star’s impact against Tottenham after playing in “different roles.”
“He played different roles for us today, he ended up on the left and scored his goal on the left,” he told TNT Sports.
“He’s a team player, he gives so much to the group, he’s got big moments in him, we know the quality he has and he cares a lot about the football club.”

Michael Carrick asked about Bruno Fernandes’ legacy at Man Utd after the Tottenham result
Fernandes has scored once and registered four assists in Carrick’s first four matches as Man Utd interim head coach in the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.
The former Sporting CP midfielder has taken his overall goalscoring tally to six in 24 matches in the current season, as well as an impressive 13 assists to his name.

Speaking after United’s 2-0 win over Tottenham, Carrick was asked about the importance of Fernandes to the Red Devils since his arrival at Old Trafford.
“It would take a long time to sum it up,” he admitted.
“He’s offered the club so much in the time he’s been here since he walked through the door.”
United will now be back in Premier League action on Tuesday evening in the UK and Carrick’s men will travel to the London Stadium to face West Ham.
