Michael Carrick is not setting any limits on where his Manchester United side can finish after they continued their great run of form, comfortably beating the 10 men of Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Old Trafford, maintaining their status as the only unbeaten team in the Premier League in 2026.
The Red Devils' chances of winning the match were improved half an hour into the game when Spurs captain [**Cristian Romero](https://www.vavel.com/en/football/2026/01/21/tottenham-hotspur/1248052-thomas-frank-rejoices-after-special-european-night-for-tottenham.html)**was sent off for a strong challenge on Casemiro, leaving under-fire manager Thomas Frank with more problems to deal with.
It did not take long for the hosts to capitalise. A well-thought-out set piece straight off the training ground was worked well between Bruno Fernandes and [**Kobbie Mainoo,](https://www.vavel.com/en/football/2026/02/05/manchester-united/1249865-five-players-thriving-under-michael-carrick.html)**who found Bryan Mbuemo free at the edge of the box, and the winger placed it into the bottom right corner to give United the lead.
It was all Man United in the second half, with Tottenham placing every man behind the ball after being reduced to 10. Spurs' compact low block finally caved in the 81st minute. A great cross from Diogo Dalot aimed for Benjamin Sesko fell to Fernandes at the backpost, who finished first time with the outside of his right foot from close range to seal the three points for Carrick's side.
Speaking to the media after the game, Carrick said he wants to win as many matches as possible after his side extended their stay in the top four for another week.
"We will see where we end up in the standings," the former Spurs player said.
"We want to win as many matches as possible. I am not setting any limits."
Carrick added, " Things are going well, the boys are in a good place and they are hungry for more.
"It can be magical this place at times. Hopefully there is more to come."
