Manchester United earned another win on Saturday, defeating Tottenham at Old Trafford with Rio Ferdinand picking out one player for specific praise.
Michael Carrick is becoming pretty undeniable right now for Manchester United after yet another impressive victory, this time over Spurs at home.
The visitors were expected to be an awkward opponent for United, and this proved to be true, as even with 10 men, Thomas Frank’s side fought hard.
But it ended up being in vain, with United getting a comfortable three points. In the win, United had multiple top performers, but for Rio Ferdinand, there was one player deserving praise who doesn’t usually get it.

Rio Ferdinand gives Diogo Dalot his flowers
While the headlines will be written about Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo, and rightly so, for Ferdinand, Diogo Dalot was equally deserving.
The defender had become a bit of a scapegoat under Ruben Amorim, but has since undergone massive improvement.

Back in his favoured position, Dalot has been really good for Carrick. Now speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents YouTube channel, the club legend has praised Dalot.

“Dalot is one who needs to be mentioned, he was one people were saying ‘ain’t good enough’ and ‘out of his depth’, I’ve heard people throwing this at him.
“But he’s playing in a position now where he feels comfortable, and he looks an absolutely different player to what we’ve seen in the last couple of seasons.”
Dalot was one of United’s best against Spurs, getting an assist and barely putting a foot wrong at either end of the pitch.
This is a far cry from when United fans wanted Dalot gone, not too long ago, which is a testament to his improvements.

Dalot is becoming a very reliable full-back again for Manchester United
The criticism Dalot received under Amorim was usually completely justified, as he looked out of place for a long time and was the weak link.
However, this came with him being played as a wing-back, which asked too much of him offensively.
As a right-back, there are few better in the Premier League.
Dalot has been top class under Carrick, and suddenly he has nailed down that right side, part of a settled back four which has kept two clean sheets in four.
Hopefully, this is only the beginning for Dalot on his redemption arc at Old Trafford.
