Here's how the players rated:
SUNDERLAND:
6 Roefs: Couldn’t do much about the goals. Dealt well with Arsenal's set-piece threat.
6 Mukiele: Huge first half tackle on Jesus was celebrated like a goal. Really solid for the most part but poor clearance led to second goal.
7 Ballard: Excellent in the first half and assured in the second. Didn’t deserve to concede three goals.
6 Alderete: Really solid and assured other than losing possession that led to first Arsenal goal.
7 Reinildo: Coped really well with the tricky Madueke. Huge improvement on his last away day display at West Ham.
7 Hume: A display full of energy and controlled aggression. Led by example wearing the armband,
7 Sadiki: Full of running, as ever, and tried to get Sunderland on front foot at every opportunity.
7 Diarra: Has added drive to Sunderland’s midfield since return and got into dangerous areas on a couple of occasions.
6 Le Fee: Good start. Looked after the ball really well. Influence waned as the game went on.
6 Talbi: Good effort forced save out of Raya early in second half. Couple of loose passes in the opening period.
7 Brobbey: Made a nuisance of himself again and caused problems throughout. Is showing week after week why he’s Sunderland’s first choice striker.
