Former Chelsea striker in no doubt on Leeds United’s relegation fate – “I think…”

Chris Sutton

Daniel Farke mentioned earlier this season that narratives change at Leeds United every week. And it seems like that is what has happened this past week.

The Whites suffered a difficult loss to Arsenal at Elland Road, which left many wondering if they could bounce back in their next game. And the fact that teams in and around Leeds had been picking up crucial points did not help ease fears.

Chris Sutton gives Leeds United relegation verdict

Leeds run out comfortable winners against Sean Dyche’s side at Elland Road, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Jayden Bogle on the scoresheet. After the game, former Chelsea man Chris Sutton backed the Whites to stay in the top flight:

“I do think they will stay up. They had a slow start under Daniel Farke, but their recent form aside from the last home game against Arsenal has been excellent.

“They have been really consistent and exceptionally strong at home and that’s why tonight is so important for them to get the three points.

“I think Daniel Farke will be fancying his team’s chances. Elland Road has been a fortress this season and it’s needed to be because their away form is a little bit wretched.

“West Ham are such a strange team. They play in patches. They get a couple of wins and they throw it all away, like against Chelsea.

“Wolves and Burnley are down. I think West Ham can push Nottingham Forest and Leeds in trying to stay up but I think it will be difficult for West Ham.

“Forest under Sean Dyche you know what you are getting, and Leeds under Farke this season have been a revelation.

“Unlike the last time Leeds were in the Premier League when they went down with a whimper, this time around it’s a different Leeds United team.”

Whites are in a very good position

Leeds are in the best position they can be right now, above the relegation zone. This keeps them on their toes as Nottingham Forest and West Ham are also fighting to keep themselves out of danger. Many have said that the Whites should have added more signings in the January window, but it seems like the 49ers are comfortable with the players they have right now. Daniel Farke will have to keep performing his magic between now and the end of the season to give his side a chance.
