A look at the predictions for Sunday’s M23 derby between Crystal Palace and Brighton.

Crystal Palace and Brighton face-off in the latest edition of the M23 derby on Sunday at the Amex Stadium. The Eagles have been in torrid form of late, and their fast start to the season now feels a world away as they look over their shoulders to the releghation zone.

Brighton have not been much better, though, and they are just two points above Palace at this stage. That makes Sunday an interesting game, and Palace will be boosted by the new signings of Jorgen Strand Larsen and Evann Guessand, even if Jean-Philippe Mateta is out for a few weeks.

Ahead of Sunday’s derby clash, we have rounded up the pundit predictions from SportsKeeda’s Paul Merson, BBC Sport’s Chris Sutton and Metro’s Alan Shearer.

Paul Merson

“Brighton are not setting the world alight with their performances. They win at home to Burnley, take a point off Manchester City at the Etihad, beat Manchester United in the FA Cup at Old Trafford and then draw with Bournemouth, lose to Fulham and draw with Everton. This is them summed up!

“You honestly don't know what you are going to get from Brighton. Crystal Palace are struggling so bad at the moment. I'd have to back Brighton here. Prediction: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 Crystal Palace.”

Chris Sutton

“Palace have brought in Jorgen Strand Larsen, and kept Jean-Philippe Mateta, so Eagles boss Oliver Glasner has got some options up front. I normally predict a draw in this game, and it ended up 0-0 at Selhurst Park in November. This time, though, I fancy Brighton.

“The Seagulls didn't quite get over the line against Everton, but them conceding late on actually won me some points. I am going for them to keep a clean sheet here though. Prediction: 2-0.”

Alan Shearer

“They’ve got a bit of history these two. Palace still find themselves in an uncomfortable situation and can’t seem to find any form whatsoever. I’ll go for a Brighton home win.

“The Strand Larsen of last season can lift Crystal Palace but I’m not sure this season’s version can. It’s unbelievable amount of money to pay for someone who has one league goal this season. He has to show the form of last season and not this one if he wants to prove himself at Palace. Prediction – Brighton win.”
