Alan Shearer doesn’t hold back when asked the Eddie Howe question following Brentford defeat

Alan Shearer has been talking after Eddie Howe watched on as Newcastle lost 3-2 at home to Brentford.

This followed on from a very difficult run of away games, that had seen a draw at PSG, but defeats at Liverpool and Manchester City.

Alan Shearer one of the guests on Match of The Day on Saturday night.

Reviewing the games, after the Newcastle v Brentford highlights, the United legend posed the question.

Kelly Cates asking Alan Shearer: “Eddie Howe is probably under the most pressure he has ever been in, since he has been in charge at Newcastle. Are there mitigating circumstances?”

Alan Shearer giving his response:

“Yes, he is having a really tough time. The toughest time since he has been at Newcastle, but I just think it was a tough situation in the summer with the Isak situation, and no Sporting Director. But there is no doubt their summer signings are, other than Malick Thiaw, haven’t worked as yet. They spent an absolute fortune on four players and they are yet to get anywhere near the heights that they did at other football clubs. And that is a huge problem for Eddie and for Newcastle. Until they solve that, I am not sure it will get better.”
