The latest Man Utd transfer news and gossip ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United already know their plans for the summer transfer window as they look to refresh their first-team squad ahead of an anticipated return to European football.

United currently sit fourth in the Premier League under new head coach Michael Carrick and believe the current squad is capable of securing Champions League qualification. A top-four finish will be certain of a place in the competition next season, while fifth-place should also be enough based on the current Uefa coefficient rankings.

A midfield refresh has been identified as the priority for the summer, with two additions expected in the position. United will also look to add a left winger to the squad after their failed move for Antoine Semenyo, while they could also strengthen in defence and add a back-up goalkeeper to the squad. It is still unclear whether United will pursue any marquee names, given there will be a wider focus on strengthening the squad rather than the starting line up.

United monitoring Yan Diomande

Manchester United are one of several clubs keeping an eye on RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande ahead of the summer transfer window. The 19-year-old is on the radar of many top sides ahead of an anticipated move at the end of the season.

Manchester World revealed last week that Diomande was a player of early interest, who GIVEMESPORT claim it could cost as much as €100m (£87m) to sign this year. United will continue to monitor the teenage winger, but have their eyes on various candidates for the left wing position.

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, notorious transfer reporter Farbizio Romano reiterated the interest in Diomande and provided an update on his situation ahead of the summer. "I think it is going to be an interesting summer for Yan Diomande. The attention on him is really there," he said.

"I will tell you more very soon, but I think Bayern will be there, Manchester United will be there, Tottenham will be there, Paris Saint-Germain could be as well. So several clubs are monitoring the player. At the moment, we are at the scouting level, we are not at the bids, negotiations or talks. Just monitoring the player, still early. There is going to be plenty of movement. He is one to watch for sure this summer."
