Tottenham among clubs interested in versatile Serie A defender who is valued at €28 million

Tottenham could face competition from the Premier League trio for the signing of a Serie A defender.

Tottenham Hotspur failed to show intent in the January transfer window, despite the club’s struggles in the Premier League. The fans were hoping that their club would splash the cash on new signings to avoid being dragged into a relegation scrap this season, but only two players were added to Thomas Frank’s squad.

The Lilywhites’ defence has come under scrutiny in recent months. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have been a solid pair, but when one of them is not on the pitch, Spurs tend to struggle to keep the opposition at bay. Moreover, the duo have been linked with summer exits.

Romero, who created headlines with his controversial post after transfer deadline day, has been attracting interest from Barcelona, while Liverpool remain keen on securing Van de Ven’s services. It is extremely unlikely the Hotspur Way chiefs let go of both the starting centre-backs in one transfer window; in fact, the club remains in a commanding position when it comes to dictating their futures, but if either of them pushes to leave, Spurs will need to replace him adequately.

Tottenham set to battle Premier League trio for Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu

According to Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale on X, Tottenham are among several Premier League clubs interested in €28 million-valued Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu. Newcastle United, Manchester United and Aston Villa are the other Premier League sides vying for his signature.

Pierre Kalulu initially joined Juventus on loan from Serie A rivals AC Milan in the summer of 2024 and saw his move made permanent in June 2025, penning a four-year contract. He made 43 appearances in his debut season at Juventus, producing a series of impressive displays. The one-cap France international has continued his strong form, racking up 33 appearances in all competitions thus far.

Having settled in Turin, the versatile Kalulu does not want to leave Juventus. Di Natale adds that the 25-year-old dreams of becoming the first Frenchman to win the Serie A with both AC Milan and Juventus. Delighted with the defender’s performances, Juventus have no intention of parting ways with him. The Frenchman’s contract in Turin expires in 2029, but the two parties have yet to open dialogue over an extension.

Spurs may find it difficult to sign Kalulu from Juventus

It comes as no surprise that Tottenham are looking to bolster their defensive options by bringing in a new central defender during the summer window. They are interested in signing Kalulu, but the defender has no interest in parting ways with Juventus or vice versa.

As such, Spurs must look out for alternative targets to strengthen their rearguard, which has become leaky in the last couple of months. If the north Londoners lose one of Romero or Van de Ven in the summer, they will require an elite player to replace him in the squad.
