5 ANGRIEST Manager Interviews in 2025/26

Being a football manager is one of the most stressful jobs in sports. They are constantly subjected to scrutiny from the fans and the media alike – as such, it isn’t surprising that they tend to lose their rags from time to time.

Today, we’ll be looking at five of the fieriest head coach interviews from the 2025/26 season. What has been your favourite manager meltdown from the current campaign?

Ange Postecoglou

Ange Postecoglou isn’t a man who is known to mince his words. His short stint at Nottingham Forest was pure chaos – both on and off the field.

He conducted an eye-opening interview in the game before he was sacked, where he spoke on the ‘pressure’ he was under and speculated that he should have probably sought out ‘temporary digs’.

In many ways, with the benefit of hindsight, Postecoglou probably knew the writing was already on the wall – and it was, as he was sacked less than a week later.

Ruben Amorim

Just as Ruben Amorim began to build a bit of momentum at Manchester United, he partook in a now-infamous interview which ultimately cost him his job.

The interview was immotalised by one line, which encapsulated the hierarchical issues at Old Trafford: ‘I came here to be the manager, not just the coach’. Additionally, he also highlight the club’s susceptibility to criticism, suggesting that he be left alone to do his work.

The United board did not leave Amorim alone – instead, a day after he conducted this interview, he was given the sack.

Wilfried Nancy

Wilfried Nancy’s ill-fated Celtic stint did not last long. He never had the support of the fans or the media, but he only seemed to become aware of this at the very end.

He turned on the media, saying it was their job to ‘attack’ him in an interview conducted in January 2. He said he was ‘fine’ with the media’s criticism of him, but his beleaguered responses seemed to indicate otherwise.

He also demanded that he be given ‘time’ to work his system at Celtic Park – unfortunately for him, he was given the sack a few days later.

Oliver Glasner

Oliver Glasner has experienced a monumental fall from grace at Crystal Palace. It isn’t his fault – the board’s mismanagement of the club has left the Eagles firmly against the ropes in the Premier League.

In a bomshell interview, Glasner exclaimed he felt ‘completely abandoned’ at Palace, regarding their poor performance in the transfer window.

Before this, he had already announced his intentions to leave the club at the end of the season. Perhaps we will see more interviews like this from him? He is acting like a man who has nothing to lose – and, in many ways, he is right to think that way.

Ian Holloway

We’re sure you’ve all heard this one by now. Former Blackpool boss Ian Holloway conducted a volcanic interview after an administrative mistake led his current club, Swindon Town, to field an ineligible player in the EFL Trophy.

Holloway, incensed by the FA and the EFL’s restrictions, launched into a tirade against the two organisations. He branded their decision as ‘absolutely disgusting’ and encouraged them to ‘sort their lives out’.

He also bemoaned the necessity of ‘horrible computers’ in football and said they will ‘take over the world some day’. Clearly, Holloway is a big fan of the Terminator franchise – though we think it’s a bit of a stretch to compare a misclick to a Skynet-esque revolution.
