Real Madrid’s summer transfer plan, at this point, appears set as they have their eyes on a new midfielder and a couple of new names in defence.
The club’s idea, broadly, is to eye experienced campaigners towards the end of their contracts and spend money on younger talents who can provide better longevity.
In midfield, they already appear to have their targets locked in and all that remains is going on the offensive come June.
The priority target
As reported by Diario AS in a recent report, Real Madrid have identified PSG’s Vitinha as their priority target for the summer.
They see a massive void in midfield and the need for an experienced presence who can not only deliver in terms of quality but also in leading the unit on the field. Vitinha, in that sense, sits as the perfect fit.

The club, thus, will launch an aggressive move for the PSG superstar in June, although there remain serious doubts as to how feasible the move is. After all, relations between the French club and Real Madrid are not great after the Kylian Mbappe saga.
Vitinha’s contract, moreover, runs until the summer of 2029 meaning that he will not be available on a free transfer.
If rumours are to be believed, the player is valued at close to €100 million and Los Blancos may have to break the bank for him. They are, however, awaiting a gesture from his end to begin talks.
Notably, the men in white have also identified their second-priority option and it is none other than Kees Smit who has been strongly linked with a move to Madrid in recent weeks. His move, needless to say, is far more feasible and a realistic option for Real Madrid to pursue.
