**Chelsea Loanee Axel Disasi made a very solid first team debut for West Ham vs Burnley yesterday.**
When West Ham chose to sign Axel Disasi in the January transfer window, there were a lot of raised eyebrows, especially from us fans.
A lot of us didn’t think he was good enough, he had been so poor for Chelsea. However, I thought he was more than good enough (at least better than Kilman and Mavropanos), I just thought he wasn’t going to be fit enough to play so soon.
His only matches since his loan at Villa last season were for Chelsea’s U21 team this campaign, and even then he only played 2-3 times earlier in the season. Despite this, he looked more than ready, more than fit enough, and he showed that.
Yes, it was only Burnley, one of only two teams below us in the table. However, it was a Burnley fighting for their lives and a team that did have some bright spells.
From the 50th minute to the hour mark, Burnley were all over us, in fact they had most of the possession and most of the shots throughout the 90 minutes. We had 6 shots in total, compared to the Clarets’ 18 shots, so Disasi and the holler defenders really did have their work cut out.
Focusing on the 27-year-old Frenchman, some of his stats from the game were impeccable.
* 85.5% pass competition rate
* 100% Aerial Duels Won
* 100% Ground Duels Won
I don’t think we’ve seen numbers like this from Todibo this season and we’ve all been singing his praises. Mavropanos was great alongside him today, but after Todibo’s suspension, could him and Disasi become our French defensive wall?
