Defender Cuiabano says he had little hesitation in choosing to join Vasco da Gama on loan from Nottingham Forest.
The 22-year-old will spend the remainder of the calendar year back in his homeland. The Brazilian outfit hold an option to make his move a permanent one, with a contract until 2030 on the cards.
Cuiabano returned to Botafogo on loan for the second half of 2025 after signing for the Reds last summer. After that stint had ended, he linked up with Sean Dyche’s side for a short time before heading back to Brazil.

"What made me choose Vasco was the project that was presented to me,” the left-back told Vasco’s official website. “My family and I thought about it carefully and we really liked it.
“In Brazil, I don't need to adapt. I have many friends here, I played for the Brazilian youth national team. I'm eager to make my debut and feel the energy of the fans.”
Cuiabano’s Forest career looks set to end without him making a single appearance for the first-team. He did feature a couple of times for the Under-21s, however, to help maintain his fitness levels.
Reports from Brazil have suggested Vasco’s option to buy the full-back stands at €10 million (£8.6m). Forest paid in the region of £5m to sign him from Botafogo on a four-year deal.

In an interview prior to his Vasco loan being officially confirmed, Cuiabano said: “I’m very happy to be here at Vasco and yes, I’m fit to play. I played two matches with Forest’s Under-21s and had been training.
“For me, nothing official came in from anywhere else. What arrived was Vasco. But every player dreams of reaching the national team. I’ll work day by day and see if I can get there.”
Announcing his departure, Forest said: “Nottingham Forest can confirm Cuiabano has joined Brasileiro Serie A side Vasco de Gama. The defender joins Vasco on loan until the end of the calendar year, with the Brazilian team also holding the option to make the deal permanent. Everyone at Nottingham Forest wishes Cuiabano well for the rest of the season.”
