After Ruben Amorim’s departure as Manchester United manager, it was difficult to see a positive end to the season, but the appointment of Michael Carrick as interim head coach until the end of the 2025/26 season has proved a master stroke so far, with the Red Devils winning all four games, which has seen them climb to fourth in the Premier League.
Following their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, Bruno Fernandes spoke to TNT Sports and gave his honest assessment of Michael Carrick.

Carrick Receives Praise
Manchester United continued their great form under Carrick with a comfortable 2-0 win at Old Trafford against the out-of-form Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham captain Cristian Romero saw red for a reckless tackle in the first half on Casemiro, and that seemed to curtail any hopes Spurs had of gaining a positive result. Bryan Mbeumo got the first goal for United, before a well-taken second-half goal from Fernandes sealed the three points. This victory made it four consecutive wins for Carrick since he took over the Old Trafford hot seat.
Bruno Fernandes Gives Carrick Assessment
Fernandes revealed in his interview with TNT Sports that he told Carrick during his first spell in 2021 that he had the potential to be a great manager:
“I think Michael came in with the right ideas of giving the players the responsibility,” Fernandes told TNT Sports. “He’s very good with the words.

“I think he still remembers what I told him the last time he was our manager for our last game. I was sure that Michael could be a great manager, and he’s just showing it.”
It remains to be seen what the rest of the season has in store for Manchester United, but the start under Michael Carrick couldn’t have got any better, and if Fernandes’ words are anything to go by, the players are behind the interim head coach.
