The man was pinned to the ground by officers in the forecourt of the station as fans made their way to the Amex for Brighton and Hove Albion v Crystal Palace.
Sussex Police has been contacted for more information.
The city has been a hub of police activity today, February 8, ahead of the match between the two rival clubs at 2pm.

Crystal Palace fans were kettled in at The Bright Helm in West Street at around midday before they were escorted to Brighton Station through the rear entrance by officers, vans and mounted police.

Meanwhile, Albion fans watched on from The Grand Central pub opposite the railway station.
The home fans let off blue flares as they made their way into the station, hurling chants at Crystal Palace fans.
