Aston Villa won’t dwell on dropped points in the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League and Champions League qualification, as Morgan Rogers said: “We move forward.”

Rogers scored as Villa drew 1-1 at Bournemouth on Saturday, his first half opener cancelled out by Rayan in the second half.

Villa are still in a strong position in the table, in third place - but both Manchester United and Chelsea closed the gap on Unai Emery’s side with victories.

United are now three points behind Villa in fourth place, with Chelsea a further point back in fifth spot, with 13 matches left to play.

“We’re a bit disappointed after going 1-0 ahead – you want to try and see the game out and even add to the lead,” said Rogers.

“We had chances to do that, it was a very open game. Both teams got into the box and created chances, but they were miles better than us in the second half.

“They deserved to get back into the game, so we’ll take the point and move forward.”

“We’re usually pretty good at defending in a low block, and we defend well in our box,” he added.

“It’s just disappointing. They’re a really good team at home, they play with a lot of energy, a lot of pace, and they get the ball into the box and cause problems.

“We stood up for the most part but when they were piling on pressure, one sometimes goes in the net.

“It’s unfortunate, but it is what it is and we move forward.”
