Brighton fans make feelings heard after dismal defeat against Crystal Palace

A number of Brighton fans publicly turned on Fabian Hurzeler during Albion’s dismal defeat against Crystal Palace.

Ismaïla Sarr’s close-range strike, just after the hour mark, separated the arch rivals at the Amex on Sunday (February 8).

In truth, the Seagulls never looked like scoring. The result means they have won just one in the last 12 games and sit just eight points above the relegation zone, with 13 games to go.

There were also loud boos as the final whistle went. Former Wales defender Danny Gabbidon, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra, said: “Brighton tried everything with the substitutes and changing formation but they were not able to unlock the door. It was really poor again. “For me, Brighton have got a bit of an identity crisis at the moment.

"This is very much what I've seen from Brighton in their last few home games; lacking ideas and creativity. I don't really see what they are trying to do in terms of their build up.

"If Danny Welbeck isn't going to get on the end of chances, I don't see where the goals are going to come from.”

Fans have written in to the BBC Sport debate page, with one person even suggesting that Albion could be drawn into a relegation battle.

“Will 31 points be enough to stay up?” the supporter asked.

"Can’t see where any more are coming from judging by that performance.”
