Man Utd join race to sign 'outstanding' Premier League defender after scouting mission - report

Manchester United have joined the growing list of Premier League clubs tracking Brentford defender Michael Kayode, according to reports.

The Red Devils are believed to be keeping close tabs on the 21-year-old right-back, whose performances for the Bees have turned heads across Europe.

United could reportedly face competition from Newcastle for Kayode after the season, with the Magpies looking to replace Tino Livramento, who has emerged as a top target for Manchester City.

The uncertainty surrounding Diogo Dalot could also force United into the market for a new right-back, with the Portugal international linked with a possible move away this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have stepped up their scouting efforts for a new right-back ahead of the summer window and have identified Kayode as a potential target.

Interest in the right-back is said to have intensified in recent weeks, with Brentford aware of the growing list of suitors for the 21-year-old.

The Bees reportedly value Kayode in excess of £50m and are eyeing a significant profit after signing the Italian from Fiorentina for around £15m last summer.

Brentford are under no pressure to sell the defender, given he is under contract until the end of the 2029/30 season.

Kayode is not pushing for a move either, despite multiple elite clubs circling ahead of the market reopening this summer.

The likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also watched Kayode live this season, with Brentford bracing themselves for a difficult battle to keep hold of their 'outstanding' defender.

Manchester United are anticipating a busy summer window, with the possibility of a new manager in charge, and could target reinforcements across the squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils are among a host of admirers of RB Leipzig starlet Yan Diomande and could be well placed to sign the Ivorian.

The likes of Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and even Paris Saint-Germain could be involved in the race for the 19-year-old, who has taken the Bundesliga by storm since joining Leipzig last summer.

Diomande has scored seven goals and provided five assists in 19 league appearances this season and helped Ivory Coast reach the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations last month.
