'The difference': Alan Shearer dissects Everton's comeback vs Fulham, five second-half things…

Everton put three more big points on the board by beating Fulham, and Alan Shearer was left impressed by the comeback.

Everton again showed great character against the Cottagers, coming from behind with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall playing a starring role in the win.

Dewsbury-Hall cropped up with a goal to get Everton back on level terms after a Vitalii Mykolenko own goal, before he then forced an own goal from Bernd Leno.

Everton are up to eighth in the Premier League table now, and the club are in a really promising position.

After yesterday’s game, pundit Alan Shearer gave his thoughts on the comeback on Match of the Day and pointed to several factors.

Everton were really poor again in the first-half against Fulham.

It has become a trend recently for Everton to not start games well, before improving after the break – and that was the case once again down in west London.

MORE EVERTON STORIES

Everton had Dewsbury-Hall to thank a lot for yesterday’s win.

But Shearer said on Match of the Day: “Not for the first time it’s happened with Everton. Fulham should have scored two or three at least in that first-half. But what was different is they played with more courage, committed more men into the box, played with more freedom and more pace to their game.

“Then they pressed higher and forced Fulham into mistakes, playing the ball exactly where they wanted them to do it. They set the trap. Mykolenko is higher up the pitch. Then you see how many players they’ve got when they actually win that ball and getting into forward positions.

“Mykolenko again is a lot further forward, and Fulham couldn’t handle it and it was a brilliant win in the end.”

Everton’s way of playing is unsustainable

Recent results have been fairly good. But Everton need to improve a lot if European football is to be played next season.

Ultimately, Everton cannot keep only playing well for 45 minutes in games.

Did anyone else aside from Dewsbury-Hall impress you? 🤔

Fulham could well have been out of sight by half-time yesterday, and Everton may not get as lucky against other teams.

These recent shows of character from Everton are obviously to be commended.

But there is no doubt that Moyes needs his side to raise their level going forward. Failure to do so could see Everton ultimately lose out on Europe.
