Forgotten Nottingham Forest star now wins prestigeous award despite injury

Nottingham Forest are staring relegation in the face this season after defeat to Leeds United.

The Reds were beaten 3-1 by the Whites at Elland Road, and Wednesday’s game against Wolves really is a must-win match.

Sean Dyche is now under severe pressure at the City Ground and defeat on Wednesday will surely signal the end of his time in charge.

There are still games left for Forest to save the situation that they find themselves in, and it’s up to the players to kick on and stop feeling sorry for themselves.

Off the field, there has also been some positive news for one forgotten player on Trentside.

Chris Wood wins accolade in New Zealand

Forest have sorely missed Wood this season, with the Kiwi striker scoring 20 goals last season as the Reds finished seventh in the Premier League.

The Reds talisman has hurt his knee this season and hasn’t played since October, with Dyche unable to call upon his striker since he came to the club.

Now, Wood has been in the news in his home country, however, winning the very prestigious Pride of New Zealand award for his services to sport.

Wood will be itching to get back on the pitch with the World Cup around the corner and it will be killing him that he can’t help Forest kick on up the Premier League given his current fitness levels.

Forest need Wood back

It’s hard to imagine Wood playing for Forest again this season, given the severity of his knee injury that has required surgery.

It’s such a shame that Wood hasn’t been able to help Forest this season, and Dyche would dearly love his talisman back at this point.

It’s great to see Wood win this accolade but ultimately, Forest need him back on the pitch and helping the team score more goals for the remainder of the campaign.

Hopefully, Dyche can call upon Wood in the near future and with the World Cup coming up, the player will be desperate to get back on the pitch.
