**Konstantinos Mavropanos arguably had a MOTM-worthy performance against Burnley as the Greek International appeared to be everywhere whilst helping others around him.**
A brilliant performance from the Trojan Horse, he was like a brick wall yesterday afternoon. It was absolutely magnificent to see and also admirable to see him step up his game to the next level, ensuring that all his teammates were communicating with one another, as well as covering in the instances that he needed to.
Across the match, he achieved 15 defensive contributions, six of which were crucial headed clearences and they were very much needed given that Hermansen’s weak point tends to be his aerial ability and that has previously been costly, so for Mavropanos to put in a significant shift in that specific regard exclaimed how crucial of a role he played on yesterday’s vital victory.
Not to mention, it’s important as fans that we recognise that a defender’s equivalent to a ‘goal’ everygame is keeping a clean sheet, it’s what they aspire to achieve and finally, after far too many games, he managed to achieve a clean sheet alongside a new centreback which isn’t always an easy task. As defenders, you have to learn to trust the person that you’re sharing your role with, which more often than not takes a lot of time, but he and Disasi appeared as if they’d been sharing a defensive line for seasons!
It’s great to see Mavropanos have an excellent performance given that this season he’s had his many glamorous moments, but they more often than not have been followed by disappointment which has been a damper to his confidence.
Hopefully, now he and Disasi will be able to bring this confidence through to Manchester United on Tuesday night, where another big match is set to take place under the lights.
