CL giants pushing to sign incredible United talent for peanuts after struggles under Carrick -…

Michael Carrick’s arrival has been a blessing for the majority of Manchester United players.

The interim head coach has earned plaudits for maximising the strengths of his stars by playing them in their preferred positions. Recently, Bruno Fernandes hailed Carrick for giving them freedom on the pitch.

However, one highly rated United youngster has fallen down the pecking order since Carrick’s appointment.

Real Madrid trying to capitalise on Leny Yoro’s struggles

Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez appear to be Michael Carrick’s preferred centre-back partnership, having started in all of his first four games in charge. Both have been absolutely solid in and out of possession, helping Manchester United pick up 12 points from 12.

Leny Yoro, meanwhile, has been handed just one minute against Fulham. He was an unused substitute against Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid have not forgotten about the Frenchman, who turned down Los Blancos in favour of a move to United in 2024.

Real were keen on signing Yoro from Lille, but United made a decisive move to secure his services by launching a €62 million bid. However, the 20-year-old has so far struggled to live up to the hype at Old Trafford.

The Spanish outlet claims Real are “closely monitoring” the France U21 international, with the club’s hierarchy considering signing new defenders amid question marks over the futures of Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba in the Spanish capital.

It is added club president Florentino Perez is considering signing the United star for “half price”.

A dead-end pursuit

It is not far-fetched to assume that such a proposal would be laughed off in Manchester.

Yoro has certainly lacked the consistency to cement his place in United’s starting line-up, but he has shown glimpses of his immense potential from time to time. As such, United are unlikely to give up on him anytime soon. He is contracted to the club until the summer of 2029.

Furthermore, United could find themselves searching for a new central defender in the summer, with Maguire nearing the end of his contract.
