The Marouane Fellaini record that will be firmly in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's sights at Everton

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall played a crucial role in Everton’s comeback win against Fulham.

The Toffees ran out 2-1 winners at Craven Cottage, showing great character to come from behind down in west London.

Did anyone else aside from Dewsbury-Hall impress you? 🤔

Everton have made a bit of a habit of coming from behind to take points in games recently.

Realistically, Everton must improve because this is an unsustainable way of playing in terms of sealing European football.

But hopefully we will soon see Everton start games in the way they are currently finishing them – on the front foot.

And one man who’ll surely be front and centre of Everton doing this is Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who might just have a record in his sights after his goal yesterday.

Everton fans have been delighted with Dewsbury-Hall so far this season following his transfer from Chelsea.

The Englishman was extremely unfortunate to suffer an injury which ruled him out for around a month, as he’d been in fine fettle.

But he’s come back and quickly picked back up where he left off – and on Saturday against Fulham he was on target for the fifth time in the Premier League this season.

It’s clear he is a goal threat, and that is excellent news for Everton, who need more threats with neither Thierno Barry nor Beto prolific.

Five goals is a great haul so far – and he is actually in a good position to break a record held by Marouane Fellaini.

That record is most goals by a midfielder in a debut Premier League season for Everton, with the big Belgian hitting eight in the 2008/09 campaign after he’d just transferred from Standard Liege. He scored nine across all competitions

It is certainly not inconceivable for Dewsbury-Hall to score four more goals across Everton’s 13 remaining Premier League games to break that record, since he’s already bagged five in 18.

David Moyes delighted with Dewsbury-Hall

David Moyes was asked about Dewsbury-Hall after his impact against Fulham.

Although the manager did not go overboard with the praise, you could clearly see from the manager’s expression just how pleased he was with the midfielder, as he said: “Absolutely he was (doing great with his goal contributions pre-injury).

“He was doing great, good goals for us. And look, he’s just coming back from a hamstring injury, and he’s still finding his way.

What would be your message to Dewsbury-Hall after THAT performance! 👏

“But he’s finding his way in a good way for us. Because he’s getting goals and he’s playing very well.”

If Everton are to seriously push for European football, then it is paramount that Dewsbury-Hall is fit and firing.

And hopefully when all is said and done, he breaks that long-standing record set by Fellaini
