Opinion: Thierno Barry must continue scoring otherwise Everton may replace him with former Man…

Everton striker Thierno Barry has hit a good run of form over the last month or so.

After a slow start to his Everton career, failing to score until December, Thierno Barry has started to show exactly why the Toffees spent £30m on his signature last summer.

Barry has netted four goals in his last seven Premier League outings, although he’s blanked in his last two outings.

Give us your gut feeling… will Everton make it into Europe? 🌍

David Moyes has admitted he still wants more from Barry, as the Frenchman does seem to be quite inconsistent.

With that said, if the 23-year-old has a poor remainder of the season, it looks like he could be replaced by a former Manchester City centre-forward.

Thierno Barry could be replaced by Liam Delap in the summer

Moyes was initially ‘fixated’ on signing another striker during the January transfer window, but he decided to sign a winger instead and place his trust in Barry.

Although, there are now fresh reports that Everton could reignite their interest in Liam Delap this summer.

Moyes actually held talks with Delap last year, but the former Man City frontman decided to join Chelsea instead.

Does Gueye need to be dropped? 🤔

Delap has only scored two goals for the West Londoners, so new manager Liam Rosenior could opt to move him on.

So, if Barry doesn’t continue to score at a good rate, he is at genuine risk of being replaced by the England under-21 international.

Indeed, the Toffees striker would still get minutes, but perhaps nowhere near as regularly as he does now.

Troy Parrott would be a better signing for Everton

Instead of Delap, Everton should seriously consider a move to sign AZ Alkmaar’s Troy Parrott.

Parrott has been linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and he would be a far superior fit for Moyes’ squad.

That’s because the Republic of Ireland international can play in a front two, so he could partner Barry, rather than replace him.

The Tottenham Hotspur youth product can operate as a second striker, almost operating as a number 10 at times.

He would likely join with lesser demands than Delap, too, so it makes more sense from a financial perspective.
