The skipper stepped up to speak in support of his head coach after losing to Crystal Palace
Fans booed the 1-0 defeat and voiced their disapproval of Fabian Hurzeler in the closing stages and at full-time.
Dunk told Sky Sports: “I don’t think as a group of players at the moment we are doing enough. We are not good enough.
“The gaffer has taken responsibility but we have to take responsibility as a group.
“It’s not good enough at the moment. We are on a poor ruin.
“We have got to look at ourselves in the mirror when we get home and we have got to do something about it.
"As a grioup of players, we haven't done enough today for the manager.
"I understand managers take the flak but we have to look at ourselves as a group that we didn't do enough for him today."
Dunk questioned Albion’s work-rate but kept the criticism on a collective basis.
He added: “We are not training hard enough every day. Today we didn’t show enough fight.
“It’s a tough one at the moment,
“The only way is to stick together as a group, be honest with each other and then bounce back from where we are.
“We know it is going to be tough to get out of this period.
“We have got one choice and that is to give our all to try.”
Dunk said confidence has been hit and demanded more intensity in training.
He said: “I understand the fans’ frustrations and that’s on us as a group of players, that we are not doing enough for them at the moment.
“We know what that game means to them, means to me and I am not happy right now.
“But there is another game coming on Wednesday and maybe we can be in a different conversation after Wednesday, hopefully.”
Albion’s midweek game gives them a chance to record the club’s first ever win in front of fans at Villa Park.
Their only previous success there, secured by goals from Danny Welbeck and Solly March, was behind closed doors in 2020-21.
