Rayan a "top, top, top player" as Truffert enjoying time in exciting Cherries team

The Frenchman played all 90 minutes of Bournemouth’s 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday, in which the Brazilian scored the equaliser in his first start for the club.

Asked how good the 19-year-old is, Truffert told the Daily Echo: “Really good. Top, top, top player.

“He's still young. He has got a lot of qualities. He will be helpful for us, so I think everybody is happy to see him with us.”

The Cherries team features a number of young talents with Rayan, fellow 19-year-old Junior Kroupi and 20-year-old Alex Jimenez among its young stars.

It is a team that Truffert is enjoying being a part of: “To be honest, I'm very excited to play in this team.

“I like the way we play, I like how we play, I like the intensity that we put in the game. So yeah, I'm very happy to play in this team.”

He continued: “I try to do my best every time.

“Some games are better than the others, but it can happen in a season. I want to continue like this, continue to give 100 per cent each game and enjoy football because football is still a game.”

Reflecting on the Villa draw, Truffert said it was a good point against a very good team.

“It was a tough game, important point, and we go again in two days away,” he said.

“We will need to recover well to be ready in two days.”

The goal the Cherries conceded came down his flank as Truffert rushed up to meet an Alex Scott flick, but he was caught out of position as Bournemouth lost the ball.

Villa exploited the space and it ended with Morgan Rogers slamming the ball past Djordje Petrovic to give Unai Emery’s side the lead.

Asked about the goal, Truffert said: “I think we can do better, like on the second ball, but sometimes this kind of thing happens against this kind of team.

“But we show a good character to come back in this game.”

On Bournemouth’s performance, the Frenchman added: “I think we had a lot of opportunity to score, but sometimes when you cannot win a game, you have to draw, and this is what we did today.”

The point saw the Cherries’ unbeaten run stretch to five and they continue to build momentum.

“It's important for us to be in a good way, to be in good form,” Truffert said.

“But in a season, it can happen when you're like in difficult moment.

“It can happen to everybody. But we did well and we need to continue like this, to continue that way, to perform.”
