Anton Stach injury latest as Facundo Buonanotte selection call explained ahead of Chelsea

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke's pre-Chelsea press conference will take place this morning.

Leeds United are back on the road this week and ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Chelsea, Daniel Farke will speak with the media today.

The Whites enjoyed a massive 3-1 win at home to Nottingham Forest on Friday night as their incredible form under the Elland Road lights continued. Goals from Jayden Bogle, Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin capped off a commanding performance, with Lorenzo Lucca’s late header proving little more than a consolation.

That win briefly opened up a nine-point gap on West Ham, who then won 2-0 at Burnley, but of equal importance was the three-point cushion Leeds now have on Forest. Farke’s side are also level on 29 points with Tottenham Hotspur ahead of Tuesday’s tricky trip to their London rivals.

Leeds are expected to face Chelsea without Anton Stach, who missed Friday’s win with a hip problem. Farke revealed last week his German midfielder was expected to be out for around 10-14 days, with this quick turnaround coming too soon, and a fresh update will come from the Whites boss today.

As of Friday, Stach was the only injury absence with doubtful pair Lukas Nmecha and Jaka Bijol both in the matchday squad against Forest, albeit neither came on. The pair have been managing hamstring issues and any major developments on either - be it a setback or readiness to start - will be covered this morning.

One injury returnee who did get minutes on Friday was Daniel James, whose substitute appearance was his first since picking up a hamstring tendon injury at Manchester City on November 29. The Welshman looked sharp given his lengthy absence and Farke could be asked about the speedy winger today.

Away from team news, Farke might be asked to give his thoughts on Leeds’ incredible home form under the lights. They have now won 18 of the 21 night matches they’ve played under Farke at Elland Road, drawing three, with at least two more still to come against Sunderland and Brentford.

It’s been more of a challenge on the road, however, with Molineux the only ground Leeds have left with three points. Draws at the likes of Liverpool, Brentford and Sunderland have offered promise but Farke could be quizzed on how to turn those sole points into three away from home.

And Chelsea are expected to provide a really tough test after winning their fourth consecutive Premier League game at Wolves on Saturday. Farke will know Blues head coach Liam Rosenior well, having faced his Hull City side back in the Championship, and will no doubt be full of praise for the young manager.

Daniel Farke will hold his pre-Chelsea press conference at 11,45am this morning. Stay tuned for live updates...
