‘Do everything possible’ to buy Wolves man – Near desperation for youngster transfer

Fer López’s decision to swap Celta Vigo for Wolves in June 2025 hasn’t worked out well.

The attacking midfielder played 230 minutes from nine Premier League matches, failing to score and contributing one assist. In the winter market, he returned to the La Liga side on loan until the end of the season.

Despite his struggles at Molineux, López insisted his move to Wolves wasn’t ‘a waste of his time’.

The 21-year-old scored for Celta Vigo in their 1-1 draw against Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League in January. He also enjoyed regular minutes on his return to Spain.

Marca now report the Spanish club ‘will do everything possible’ to retain the Wolves man beyond this season.

Celta Vigo made two loan offers to Rob Edwards’ side to sign the Spain U21 international. The first was until the end of the season and the other for 18 months, and Wolves have accepted the former.

Therefore, Celta Vigo have to find a new agreement with the English club in the summer to retain López. The newspaper points out of the ‘significant difficulty’ to agree fresh terms with Wolves.

In addition to this, the Spanish club will have to be wary of the competition from other teams. Marca claim both the attacker and Wolves will receive attractive offers after this season.

López is a key player for Celta Vigo boss Claudio Giráldez. This would mean his valuation won’t diminish, making it more challenging for them to retain him.

Giráldez’s side aren’t give up and are of the belief their chances would improve if Wolves get relegated. This is likely to be happen as the Premier League side are bottom of the table, trailing 17th placed Nottingham Forest by 18 points.

Marca add López needs to exert pressure on extend his loan stay and this will also be key for Celta Vigo to retain him.
