Nottingham Forest are sleepwalking back towards a relegation battle after defeat to Leeds United.

The 3-1 reverse at Elland Road means that Forest have blown another golden opportunity to put daylight between themselves and the teams inside the bottom three.

Forest have to get going again if they’re to remain in the Premier League for another season, and with West Ham playing extremely well, things are getting a little bit perilous.

Sean Dyche is apparently under pressure, and now, one pundit has delivered an intriguing prediction as Forest prepare to face Wolves on Wednesday in a must-win fixture.

Robbie Mustoe makes Sean Dyche prediction

Dyche does have to sort something out when it comes to the team’s performance levels at the moment, with each defeat bringing more pressure to the table.

Mustoe has suggested that Dyche might not be the firefighter he once was when it comes to pulling teams clear of the relegation zone and thinks Evangelos Marinakis will act if a win isn’t secured on Wednesday.

He said on The 2 Robbies podcast: “Sean Dyche, I mean, the theory is, he kept Burnley up for so long, but they get worse and ended up getting relegated. Is he a bit of fake news, Sean Dyche? They had a boost initially but they’re three points off the relegation zone.

“There was no sense that this was a big game on Friday night. Dyche knows what Elland Road is like under the lights, surely?

“I’m just looking, on Wednesday night Forest have got Wolves, if they don’t beat Wolves, Dyche is out, I’m telling you. Mr Marinakis will not be having it. Watch out for that.”

Dyche has to show he can mix things up

Leeds United and West Ham have shown Forest the way to go in recent months, with both teams picking up recently.

When Forest beat Leeds in November, Daniel Farke was under intense pressure, but he’s gone to a 3-5-2 formation and watched his team thrive since losing at the City Ground.

It’s the same for Nuno Espirito Santo at West Ham. He’s mixed things up in terms of personnel and tweaked the style of play a little bit, with the Hammers now bang in form.

Forest, meanwhile, keep going with a rinse and repeat approach under Dyche, and frankly, it’s going to send Forest down if something doesn’t change and change quickly!
