Wolves pause outgoing transfer – Second-thoughts over February exit

Wolves are still undecided over Enso Gonzalez’s next move, with fresh comments from Paraguay showing that the situation remains open rather than settled.

Speaking on Paraguayan radio, journalist Christian Martin made it clear that the winger’s future now sits in a grey area.

“There were offers that didn’t convince anyone,” Martin said, referring to interest from Spain and Turkey. According to him, neither Wolves nor the player felt those options were right, which explains why those paths have cooled after some early noise.

Instead, attention has shifted elsewhere. Talks continue with Brazilian side Botafogo, while clubs in MLS also remain on alert. Brazil and the United States, as Martin put it, still have “the books open” – meaning they could still register new players. The issue with Botafogo remains their transfer ban, which has slowed any concrete progress.

One detail now weighs heavily in Wolves’ thinking. “In three months, Enso becomes a homegrown player,” Martin explained. Because he has been at the club for three years, Gonzalez will no longer take up a foreign player slot.

That fact alone has made Wolves pause. “Wolverhampton are now doubting, because they say: do we let him stay three more months and change his status?”

That hesitation contrasts with the player’s own position. “Enso wants to play,” Martin stressed, adding that the coaching staff had chances to use him and chose not to. Even so, the manager likes the player, which keeps the door from fully closing.

For now, Wolves sit between two ideas. Move him now and guarantee minutes elsewhere, or wait a little longer and benefit from a change in status that could reshape his role internally.

As Martin summed it up, the interest is there, the desire to play is clear, but timing may decide everything.
