‘I hope he’s available…’ – Leeds United fans will be sweating after Daniel Farke delivers…

Leeds United

Leeds United took a huge step towards safety last Friday night. In a crucial game against relegation rivals Nottingham Forest, they recorded a huge win.

Many expected the match to be a close game since Sean Dyche’s men had gone four games unbeaten – even holding Arsenal to a draw. Leeds themselves had lost in a disappointing fashion to the Gunners at home. Mikel Arteta’s side dominated the Whites in a 4-0 win at Elland Road, leaving many fans anxious of the outcome of the Forest game.

But Daniel Farke’s side pulled through, giving one of their best performances of the season on Friday night. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and Jayden Bogle found themselves on the scoresheet in a brilliant win.

Leeds United could miss star man on Tuesday

Up next for Leeds is Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and on Monday Daniel Farke confirmed that there is one major injury concern. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has an illness and could be a doubt to play on Tuesday night:

”Dominic was struggling with illness but it’s nothing too bad, I hope he’s available.” Farke said during the press conference.

The Leeds boss also confirmed Pascal Struijk will be out, while Anton Stach is not yet ready to return.

”Nothing in terms of knocks or muscle injuries. Bad news for Pascal Struijk, he will definitely miss this game.

”He’s got some hip flexor problems after the Forest game. Anton Stach will also be back for the Villa game. Apart from this, I hope to have everyone available.”

49ers should have added a striker in January

Leeds tried their best to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves in January, but failed. Reports emerged that the Whites’ offer of a loan with obligation to buy was turned down as Crystal Palace won the race for the striker. But the club did not pursue any alternatives after that; the 49ers seemed content with their options.

So from now till the end of the season Leeds have to bank on the fitness of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha. With these two stars being injury prone, it could be a huge risk. Now, if Calvert-Lewin misses the Chelsea game, there are not many alternatives that can fit into his role in the team. Daniel Farke has asked for attacking reinforcements since the summer but for some reason, the team always focused on other areas.
