Manchester United have placed Sandro Tonali near the top of their shortlist as they plan a midfield rebuild this summer.
The 25-year-old Italy international is set to be a central figure in the upcoming transfer window after his agent claimed Tonali is considering his future at Newcastle United.
According to the Telegraph, Man United are also monitoring the situation closely, with Tonali among the midfield options under consideration, alongside Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace.

It comes after Tonali’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, told Italian media that he will ‘evaluate’ his position at St James’ Park this summer.
Speaking to Tuttosport, he said: “Newcastle are having a hard time letting go of Sandro, and he wants to lead the club to the Champions League.

“We’ll evaluate and decide what to do in the summer. These transfer discussions will take place later. We’ll see how the season ends and then we’ll decide what to do.
“There’s no preference. It’s still early. What we’re saying today won’t apply tomorrow. Newcastle couldn’t let him go now, and there’s no point moving, especially since Sandro is very attached to the club.”
Newcastle spent £55m to get Tonali from AC Milan in 2023, but would make a huge return on their initial investment. The Italy international’s contract runs until 2029 and given how many transfers in the past few years have exceeded £100m, Tonali would likely sell for a similar fee.
Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe has been assured that Tonali is happy at the club, although that has not stopped interest from elsewhere.
