Juggling act: Thomas Frank
Tottenham Hotspurs Football Newsletter
Tottenham’s injury concerns have continued with Destiny Udogie becoming the latest player sidelined as Spurs prepare to face Newcastle.
Udogie limped off after 55 minutes of Spurs’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, and will now miss at least a month after suffering his second hamstring injury of the season.
The 23-year-old, who has been blighted by fitness issues throughout his Spurs career, had only just returned from a hamstring injury sustained at the start of December.
Udogie’s injury comes with manager Thomas Frank desperately searching for defensive options, with Kevin Danso still “weeks away” from a return from a toe injury.
Captain Cristian Romero made matters worse on Saturday against Manchester United with his second red card of the season, resulting in a four-game ban.
There was some positive news ahead of Tuesday night’s visit of Newcastle, with Djed Spence back fit after missing the last two games with a calf injury.

With Spence and Brazilian left-back Souza fit and available, Frank could opt to revert to a three-man defence after utilising a 4-3-3 against United.
However, with Souza yet to start since signing from Santos for £13million in January, Frank is likely to play Spence at left-back and the equally versatile Archie Gray at right-back.
After the weekend’s defeat to United, Spurs are now just six points from the relegation zone and are still searching for their first league win of the calendar year.
Tottenham predicted XI (4-3-3): Vicario, Gray, Dragusin, Van de Ven, Spence, Gallagher, Palhinha, Sarr, Odobert, Solanke, Simons
Injured: Maddison, Kulusevski, Bentancur, Kudus, Richarlison, Davies, Porro, Bergvall, Danso, Udogie
Suspended: Romero
