Real Madrid are now looking to compound Leicester City's recent misery by setting their sights on one of their best players.
Leicester interested in Gary Rowett move
It's been a disastrous season for Leicester. The Foxes have gone from the Premier League to the cusp of the relegation zone in the Championship after their six-point deduction was confirmed. And all of this comes at a time when they do not have a manager to turn to after sacking Marti Cifuentes.
Defeat against Birmingham City last time out has far from helped their survival hopes, but those at The King Power will be hoping that the arrival of a new manager, whoever it is, proves to be the turning point for their season.
Among the reported options for the job is Gary Rowett. The 51-year-old certainly has Championship experience, having taken charge of Stoke City, Oxford United and Millwall in the past. Whether he chooses Leicester over Blackburn Rovers remains the big question, however.
Other options include the likes of Russell Martin. The former Rangers boss will be desperate for his next job to go well after a catastrophic tenure in Scotland ended in rapid fashion.

It's been a disastrous time for the Foxes.
Whoever Leicester turn to will likely be facing the prospect of arriving at a club with little to spend. After the Foxes were hit with their charge for breaching PSR, it seems unlikely that they've performed a quick fix over the last year.
That could also mean the sale of several star players, including young gem Jeremy Monga.
Real Madrid now preparing shock Monga offer
According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid are now preparing a shock offer to sign Monga worth around €15m (£14m). It's an offer that would change the 16-year-old's career and aid Leicester's finances, should they choose to accept it rather than negotiate for a higher price.

The Spaniard's reportedly plan to welcome the teenager into their second team, whilst forming a clear path to eventual life at the Santiago Bernabeu. It is a dream-like scenario for Monga.
There aren't many better prospects in English football than the Leicester teenager and praise throughout this season has reflected that.
"He deserves the credit, he is a talented boy and we are trying to take care of him because he is very humble and that is very important for me because the way he works on the pitch is excellent.
"He wants to learn, he is eager to improve and he has a lot of talent so I'm happy that he scored his first goal and I'm sure he's going to stay humble as well and I'm not happy only about the goal but the whole performance." (Cifuentes)
In the middle of such a miserable campaign for Leicester, their young gem could get the chance to seal a sensational move if recent reports are anything to go by.
