Nottingham Forest had a pretty quiet January transfer window by their usual standards.

Three players were added with Lorenzo Lucca, Stefan Ortega and Luca Netz signing for the club to aid the survival bid.

Players left the club too, with Arnaud Kalimuendo and Douglas Luiz the highest profile players to depart the City Ground.

The Reds are languishing in 17th place in the Premier League table at the moment, with a huge crunch game against Wolves on Wednesday night.

Ahead of the game, another City Ground departure has been confirmed and the player in question has taken a bit of a pop at Sean Dyche.

Cuiabano drops sly dig towards Sean Dyche

The Brazilian left-back can be added to a clutch of players who have signed for Forest and then departed before even kicking a ball for the club.

Admittedly not every transfer can work out these days but far too often do Forest do business for players with decent reputations only to offload them almost as quickly as they’ve signed.

After signing for Vasco da Gama, Cuiabano was quizzed on whether or not he’s actually fit to play given that he never got a chance to play at Forest.

The defender has an emphatic response, posing the question – albeit subtly – as to why he wasn’t deserving of a chance in the Forest team.

He said in his press conference: “I’m very happy to be here at Vasco and yes, I am fit to play! I played two matches for Forest’s under-21s and had been training. Now, I need to speak to coach Fernando Diniz and see what he thinks, because the final decision is his.”

Cuiabano deserved a chance in the Forest team

At 22, there was hope that Cuiabano was signed at the perfect age for him to be able to finish the season with Botafogo and then join Forest eager for a chance in the Premier League.

It’s such a shame that Cuiabano looks like being another blemish on the club’s recruitment policy, especially at a time when full-backs are in short supply at Forest.

It’s no surprise that he’s taken a little dig at Dyche, reminding everyone that he’s actually fit enough to play and he’s probably scratching his head over why he didn’t get a chance.

Forest might land a profit on this deal but it’s no surprise that the club get fun poked at them from rival clubs and pundits when it comes to doing deals like the one involving Cuiabano.
