‘I don’t think Leeds…’ – Simon Jordan gives updated Leeds United relegation verdict after…

Simon Jordan Leeds United

Before this season kicked off, Leeds United were heavily tipped as one of the teams to go down. As soon as they lifted the Championship in the summer, Whites boss Daniel Farke was rumoured to be sacked also.

But more than half way into the season, Leeds are above the relegation zone and Farke is still in charge. The Whites have had a mixed season but a strong run to end last year is responsible for escaping the relegation zone. Now, they are in a favourable position compared to their rivals. But the failure to add more reinforcements in the January window outside Facundo Buonanotte has raised eyebrows.

Simon Jordan gives Leeds United relegation verdict

Simon Jordan gave his opinion on the battle at the bottom of the table on talkSPORT. The former Palace chief says that Leeds United have a high chance of not going down, but their inability to turn draws into wins and their poor form on the road could be an issue:

“I think Leeds are a good side, and I think Calvert-Lewin has hit a purple patch.

“They’ve got belief, the manager’s got control of the circumstances, they’re winning games, the problem for Leeds is that they’ve drawn too many games or they’d be up, up and away, but I don’t think Leeds are going to get dragged in any further than they already are in there.”

Club need to improve

Simon Jordan is right; there are some games Leeds have thrown away simply because they could not finish teams off. And this is down to the attacking quality in the team; the Whites rely too much on Dominic Calvert-Lewin, which is why the failure to bring in a striker in January could go poorly. The 49ers have decided that Piroe, Calvert-Lewin, Nmecha and Okafor in attack will be enough from now till the end of the season.

Leeds’ away form has also not been great, one win on the road this season is abysmal. Daniel Farke needs to find a solution if the club have plans of avoiding relegation from the Premier League.
