Veteran centre-back Willy Boly missed out on a place in Nottingham Forest’s revised Premier League and Europa League squads due to injury, Sean Dyche has revealed.
It means the defender may well have played his last match for the Reds as he is out of contract in the summer. A knee problem is currently keeping Boly on the sidelines. He last pulled on the Garibaldi in September, as a substitute against Real Betis in the Europa League.
There was no place for the 35-year-old in Forest’s updated 25-man Premier League squad following the closure of the winter transfer window. Likewise, he was left out of the group when the club named their updated list for the Europa League knockout stages.

“He’s injured,” Dyche said of Boly. “We took him out of the squad because we have got to bring a freshness to it.
“I spoke to him at length. He’s a brilliant fella and a brilliant pro, without a shadow of a doubt.
“He knows, he understands. It’s his knee, he was struggling a bit with it but was getting on with it and seeing if he could take it further.
“It’s just too much at the minute so he’s recovering from that. But he’s been great and is a top pro.”
Striker Chris Wood, however, was included in both the Premier League and Europa League squads. He has been absent since October and had knee surgery at the turn of the year.

Asked if the inclusion of the New Zealand international is a positive sign he might feature before the end of the campaign, Dyche said: “We’re hopeful. Things are settling and definitely going in the right direction.
“He’s got a check-up with the specialist - it might be tomorrow, actually. It’s going really well currently. It is calming down nicely and building back up."
